Scientists plan "Big Bang" probe on September 10
The world is bracing for the biggest-ever particle physics experiment on Wednesday, September 10. CERN, a Geneva-based laboratory will conduct the "Big Bang" probe inside an 27-km tunnel deep under the French-Swiss border. The experiment is aimed at revolutionizing the understanding of the universe. The "Big Bang" probe will cost 6.4 billion euro (9.2 billion USD or Rs. 36,000 crore).Through the "Big Bang" probe, the scientists hope to detect the evidence of extra dimensions, invisible dark matter and a particle called the "Higgs boson". The scientists have planned to smash particle beams together at the speed of the light inside CERN's Large Hadron Collider. It will create multiple mini-versions of the Big Bang, which occurred about 13.7 billion years ago and led to formation of stars, planets and life on earth.
There have been apprehensions about the outcome of the "Big Bang" experiment, but scientists have allayed the fear and doubts, saying it won't have any negative impact on the universe. About 10,000 scientists across the world have put their efforts on "Big Bang"experiment. 34 scientists from India have also taken part in the experiment. The "Big Bang" experiment project took 28 years for completion.
