Sonia steps in, seeks explanation from Maha CM on Raj vs Bachchans Row

According to leading TV channels in India, Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has sough an explanation from Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh on why no action has been taken against MNS chief Raj Thackeray for his hate campaign against Amitabh Bachchan and North Indian community. Sonia talked to Margaret Alva, who is in charge of Maharashtra Congress and instructed her to talk to Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh. Sonia also directed Maharashtra government to ensure adequate security to Amitabh Bachchan and his family.

Sonia reportedly expressed surprise on how fundamentalists were being allowed to get away with provocative statements against Amitabh Bachchan and his family. Sonia's intervention came just after Superstar Amitabh Bachchan held a press conference to apologise to Maharashtrians if Jaya Bachchan's remarks hurt their sentiments. He made it clear that Jaya's remarks meant no malice. Mr. Amitabh Bachchan also said that he and his family are ready to go to jail if they are found guilty of deliberately making any remarks.
