Supreme Court refuses to stay Nanavati Commission Report

Breaking News! The Supreme Court issued a notice to Gujarat Government on the publication of Justice Nanavati Commission report on Godhra and Gujarat Riots. But it refused to stay the circulation of the report. In his Part 1 report, Justice Nanavati had termed the burning of Sabarmati Express at Godhra as a pre-planned conspiracy and exonerated CM Narendra Modi and his ministers in the Gujarat Riots.

The apex court issued the notice on the petition filed by Citizen for Justice and Peace, which urged the court to prevent Gujarat government from publishing the Nanavati Commission report (Part 1) till the final report comes in December 2008. Next hearing of the case will take place on October 13.
