AK Antony: No differences between Govt. and Armed Forces on Pay Hike
Defence Minister AK Antony dismissed reports of differences between the Centre and armed forces over the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations. The defence minister also said that government was ready to add Rs. 6,000 crore as a commitment, which will be over and above the Pay Commission recommendations.The Army Chief also played down the reports and said that talks of differences between the armed forces and government is not right. According to AK Antony, all three Services chiefs have already submitted the revised pay vouchers to the government. According to sources, the armed forces were under pressure to accept the salaries as per the current arrangements. They will also get the ad-hoc arrears.
The pay structure of the armed forces may be revised after the three-member committee submits its report. The committee includes External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Defence Minister AK Antony and Finance Minister P Chidambaram.
