Muhurat Trading at Stock Market, BSE Sensex crosses 9,000

Breaking News! October 28, 2008. The BSE Sensex celebrates Diwali like a millions of people in India with the beginning of Muhurat Trading at 6.15 PM today. Surprisingly, the BSE Sensex, which had witnessed a slump in the past few days, rose past 9,000 mark in the opening trade. The Nifty too gained 163 points to trade at 2,687. The BSE Sensex finally closed at 9,008.08 points with a gain of 498.52.

Muhurat trading is the auspicious stock market trading for an hour on Diwali (Deepawali), which holds much significance for the business community in India. The investors, brokers and everyone in India have eagerly waited for Muhurat trading, which they hoped would revive the fortune of Indian stock market. There is no doubt that Muhurat trading brought cheer to millions of people on Diwali. Latest reports suggest that the stock markets in the US also opened in green.
