Orissa Nun Rape case: 4 people arrested, Police Officer removed

Breaking News! The mysterious nun rape case in Baliguda in Kandhamal district of Orissa, took an interesting turn, as the police arrested four people in connection with the case. The Inspector-in-charge of Baliguda police station, KN Rao was put under suspension for dereliction of duty and for trying to suppress the truth.

According to reports, a Catholic nun was brutally assaulted, paraded naked and gangraped by a mob on August 25, 2008. The 29-year-old nun was working with Divyajyoti Pastoral Centre at Kanjamendi village near Baliguda, Kandhamal. She was alleged dragged out of a house in K Nuagaon, along with a 55-year-old priest Father Thomas Chellantharayil. Although she filed an FIR, the police did not take up the case until it was highlighted in the print media.

Medical examination of the nun conducted the same night at the Baliguda Hospital doctors confirmed rape. Medical reports say that there was no external or internal vaginal injury, but semen was found inside. Initially, the nun denied that she was raped, but after moving out of Orissa, she alleged that she was raped. After the brutal murder of Graham Staines in Orissa in 1999, a nun in Baripada, Orissa had alleged rape, but later it was found that she had consensual sex with someone and made false allegations at the behest of some vested missionaries.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered a crime branch inquiry into the incident and asked the authorities to take stern action against the culprits irrespective of their position and clouts. a complete investigation will bring out the truth.

Its such an animalish behaviour on the part of the mob. The most heart breaking part is the police who watched the whole thing as a live telecast are not human beings as they not only didnt do their work but they dont have conscience either. The politicians also term this incident as 'unfortunate' which is a lighter word. No longer India is known for its secularism. If this kind of tormenting christians continue, the LIVING LORD JESUS will fight the battle for all those hundreds of cries of agony which rose from Orissa.

my patriotism s not working at all.. feel shame to be a part of such a country which s having some cultureless mob.
a bit rotten is enough to make the whole fruit basket smelling..

I believe surely there is hell. God will punish those who do such taking His name.

Rape or any crime is condemnable anywhere and done by anybody. Don't have to be ashamed of being an indian for the mere thing that a nun was raped by some people. They are reportedly some among the people who were converted and reconverted; and who killed Laxmanananda. We, all Indians should be ashamed to be part and parcel of all these gimmicks and communalisation of crimes. Instead of punishing the culprits, our politicians and others are trying to categorize the criminals rather than crimes and thus providing them shelter in one way or other. Why should we protect criminals by giving them the shield of some religion or community? Surely, no politician dare to touch a criminal if he/she is equipped with a religion or community.
