Commando Operation in Taj and Oberoi Hotels, Four Terrorists killed
Breaking News! The NSG Commandos who arrived in Mumbai from Delhi this morning, have begun their operation in Taj Hotel and Oberoi Hotel. At least 6-7 people have been taken into hostage in Hotel Taj, where seven blasts were reported. At Oberoi, over 50 people have been taken into hostage. Most of them are foreigners. The commandos are ready for the final assault.The Commandos are evacuating guests at Taj Hotel. The Army has been holding the fort at Taj and Oberoi since last night. It has been confirmed that over 100 people were killed and 200 injured in the firing and blasts that gripped Mumbai last night. 11 policemen including DIG Ashok Kamte, ATS Chief Hemant Karkare and Encounter Specialist Vijay Salskar were killed. 18 other policemen were injured in the firing.
According to Mumbai Police sources, there were 26 terrorists out of whom, four were gunned down. Nine terrorists are reportedly arrested, while 10-12 more are holed up inside the Taj and Oberoi. Some terrorists fled using a Govt. Jeep and another police vehicle (MH-01 ZA 102, MH-01 BA 5179). The police are searching for those terrorists.
A couple from middle east and a Japanese tourist reportedly killed in terror attack. All schools and colleges in Mumbai have been closed. There will be no trading at BSE Sensex today. Meanwhile, US President George W. Bush and US President-elect Barack Obama have condemned the Mumbai terror attack, condoled the death of innocents and offered all assistance to India if needed.
The EU has also condemned the terror attack in Mumbai. After the terror attack in Mumbai, England's cricket team has cancelled its ongoing tour of India and will return home today. England has already played 5 ODIs and was scheduled to play 2 more ODIs and four test matches.
