Death Toll reaches 195, NSG Units to be set up in Metros, big States

Breaking News! ML Kumawat, Special Secretary (Internal Security), Union Home Ministry, confirmed that at least 195 people including 18 policemen and two NSG Commandos were killed in the Mumbai terror attack. 8 NSG commandos were injured in the gun battle. Among the dead, 23 people were foreigners. 22 foreigners were injured in the attack. There were 10 terrorists. Nine terrorists were killed, while one was caught alive.

Mr. Kumawat briefed the media after the Prime Minister and Defence Minister held a high-level meeting with the Army, Naval and Coast Guard chiefs in New Delhi. "There is 8,000 miles of coastline with eight minor and 12 major ports where we are planning to upgrade the security. We have proposed a plan to register boats with the police", said Kumawat. He also added that government will set up NSG Units in all Metros and big states of the country.

According to ML Kumawat, the terrorists were highly trained to conduct such a high profile attack. 10 AK-56 rifles, 10 5-mm pistols, grenades and 10 kg explosives including RDX were recovered from the terrorists. The teorrorists possesed I-Cards of local Mumbai colleges.

It was confirmed that they came from Karachi via sea-route and were taking instructions from Karachi before and after the terror attack. According to Maharashtra Dy. CM RR Patil, the terrorists aimed to kill 5,000 people in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Oberoi Group Chairman has clarified that no terrorist had checked in at Oberoi and no employee of the Hotel was involved in the attack. He also assured to enhance the security of the hotel. He also said that Trident could be opened soon, but Oberoi will take time to reopen.
