P Chidambaram to be new Union Home Minister

Breaking News! Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram will be the new Union Home Minister of India. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will hold the additional charge of Finance Ministry. With next general elections due in Feb/March 2009, it won't be much difficult for the Prime Minister to manage the Finance Ministry, which he held during the period 1991-96.

Earlier, Shivraj Patil resigned as the Union Home Minister, owning moral responsibility for the terror attacks in Mumbai. Shivraj Patil was under tremendous pressure to step down, as India witnessed 18 terror attacks (J&K excluded) during his tenure as the Home Minister.
