Sriprakash Jaiswal: India's Coastal Security need to be improved

Breaking News! Union Minister of State (Home), Sriprakash Jaiswal held a press conference and talked about the terror attack in Mumbai and politics. He admitted that this is the worst-ever terror attack in India. "Our coastal security is weak. It was discussed at the CMs' meeting two years ago. We had taken some steps by providing vessels to coastal states - Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. But that was not enough. We should have done more," said Jaiswal.

Sriprakash Jaiswal did not forget to talk about politics, when he took on Gujarat CM Narendra Modi for terming PM's address to the nation as "disappointing". He said Sonia Gandhi had called up then PM Atal Behari Vajpayee and assured support during the parliament attack in 2001, but forgot that Congress has been raking up that issue in every elections and did not even bother to hand Afzal Guru, who was sentenced to death by the Supreme Court.

Sriprakash Jaiswal passed the bucks to the Chief Ministers of states, saying they are not accepting Centre's requests for the formation of a federal agency to tackle terror and introduction of police reforms. When asked why no step was taken to enhance the coastal security even as arms were supplied to 1993 mumbai blasts via sea route, he said such things did not occur in the past.
