US Presidential Elections 2008 Results: A Complete Overview
With the counting in five states are still in progress, Barack Obama has registered a landslide victory over his Republican rival John McCain. Obama now leads 349-163 over McCain. Out of 48 states, where results have been declared so far, Obama won 28 states and District of Columbia. McCain has won 20 states so far.
John McCain has already conceded defeat and pledged to extend full cooperation to Obama in his new endeavour. Interestingly, Democrats have gained complete control over both Senate and House of Representatives. In the House, Democrats lead over the Republicans by 254-173. Similarly, they lead by 56-40 in the Senate. Obama has received 53% popular votes, as compared to 47% popular votes received by McCain.

Ohio, Iowa, New Mexico, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Maine, Virginia, Colorado, California, Maryland, Indiana, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, and District of Columbia.
John McCain:
Utah, Kansas, Arkansas, Texas, Mississippi, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, Wyoming, Alaska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Idaho, Arizona, Nebraska, and West Virginia.
