NIA Bill 2008 and UAPA Bill passed in Lok Sabha

Breaking News! The National Investigating Agency (NIA) Bill 2008, was passed in the Lok Sabha by a voice vote. The bill clears way for the setting up of National Investigating Agency to tackle the menace of terror and insurgency. The UPA government did not have any difficulty in passing the bill after the opposition BJP offered its unconditional support to the bill.

The Lok Sabha also passed the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment (UAPA) Bill , which has made several amendments to the existing law. The BJP supported this bill too. The bills will become law once they are approved by the Rajya Sabha.
