Rajasthan Election: Congress set to form Government, Vasundhara Raje bows out
Breaking News! The Rajasthan election produced a mixed response for both Congress and BJP. While, Vasundhara Raje has been ousted from power, the Congress under the leadership of former CM Ashok Gehlot, failed to get majority. Although the Congress has emerged as the single largest party in the state, it may still require 4/5 MLAs from outside to form the government.
Unlike Madhya Pradesh, where the BJP is heading for a landslide victory, the difference between the Congress and BJP is not so so wide. While, Congress is leading in 97 seats, BJP is leading in 77 seats. Others including the BSP are leading in 26 seats.
It would not be difficult for the Congress to form the government by getting 4/5 independent MLAs. While people of Rajasthan voted Vasundhara Raje out of power, they still did not give a clear mandate to Congress. Both parties should take a lesson from the Rajasthan election. Out of the four major states, Rajasthan was the only state, where the incumbent Chief Minister could not beat the anti-incumbency factor.
