Mr. Gill has been asked to go on a long leave. KS Bains, who was in charged of Intelligence, has been appointed as the new DGP.
Meanwhile, the state government has acceded the demands made by Gujjars that postmortem on the victims killed in police firing should be done by a team of doctors from the AIIMS. The Gujjars have not cremated 8 dead bodies yet and continue their sit-in protest with those dead.
Nepal celebrated its first day as a Republic on Thursday by taking down the royal flag atop the Nepal Palace. King Gyanendra and his playboy son Paras remained mute spectators to their transition from Royals to common citizens. Earlier, on Wednesday, the Constituent Assembly had abolished the 240-year old Monarchy and declared Nepal as a Republic. 'Former' King Gyanendra has been give a two-week deadline to leave the Royal Palace.
While the oil companies are feeling the heat because of the rising oil prices, the government too feel compelled to go for another fuel price hike shortly. This time, the hike may hit the consumers hard, as the Petroleum Ministry has proposed a hike of Rs. 10 in petrol, Rs. 5 in diesel and Rs. 50 in gas prices.

A special assembly in Kathmandu has declared the Himalayan country as a republic earlier today. Nepal's King Gyanendra became a common citizen from today onwards. His family's dynastic rule, which began in 1769, ended today.It brought an end to the era that witnessed conflicts, bloodshed and political turmoils. The peace process involving all political parties and the Maoists finally yielded results. The Maoists have emerged as the big winners in last month's elections. King Gyanendra has been given 15 days to leave the Royal Palace and live as an ordinary citizen. The palace will be turned into a museum. The King will be replaced by an elected President.
A Mumbai Sessions Court set aside a lower cour order that termed Manyata's marriage with Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt illegal and upheld her divorce with ex-husband Meraj. The judgement nullified the charges of bigamy against Manyata and cleared the way for her marriage with Sanjay Dutt. Sanjay Dutt expressed happiness over the judgement and hoped that matter would end here.
Breaking News! In a historic judgement, the Patiala House court held Vikas Yadav and his cousin Vishal Yadav guilty in the sensational Nitish Katara murder case. Nitish, who was having relations with Vikas Yadav's sister Bharti, was kidnapped and later murdered in February 2006. Vikas Yadav is the son of the former MP DP Yadav. He is also one of the co-accused in the Jessical Lal murder case.
The sensational Arushi murder case took a new turn, as a Noida court rejected accused Dr. Rajesh Talwar's bail plea and sent him to a 3-day police custody. The court accepted the prosecution's argument that Rajesh Talwar never co-operated with the police and they need more time to unravel the truth. It would be interesting to see if the police will be able to extract more information from Dr. Rajesh Talwar or not.
Curfew has been imposed at Krishnai in lower Assam’s Goalpara district after one person was killed and 11 others injured during a police firing. According to District Deputy Commissioner Utpolnanda Sharma, the police had to start firing as the crowd, which gathered near the Krishnai police station went violent demanding the release of about 50 people who were arrested in connection with torching houses. Some police officials were also injured in stone pelting.
President Pratibha Patil, during her four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir declared that "any attack on the border will dealt firmly" in response to the Pakistani troops' repeated ceasefire violations in the state. On her arrival, she was received by Air Commodore Ramesh Goel, the air officer commanding of the Srinagar air base.
An FIR has been lodged against Jabir Hussain, a RJD MP who was the former chairman of Bihar Legislative Council. He is accused of 78 illegal appointments made during his tenure as the Chairman in 2006. The Sachivalaya police registered the FIR against the former Chairman and the former council secretary Kapildev Prasad on May 24th based on the report submitted by present council chairman Arun Kumar stating some irregularities during the tenure of Mr. Hussain.
Breaking News! The Rajasthan High Court has issued a contempt notice to Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla for violating the court order. Bainsla has been charged for failing to restrain the community from breaking law and order. The court also asked charged Bainsla for taking the law into his own hand. The Rajasthan HC asked the Bharatpur collector to serve the notice to Bainsla.
Breaking News! Rajsthan CM Vasundhara Raje has written a letter to the Prime Minister, seeking a 4-6 percent separate quota for Gujjars. She also urged the PM to call a meeting of all Gujjar-populated states. In her letter, Raje termed the Gujjar issue as a national problem and requested the PM to address the issue with priority. Vasundhara Raje also asked the PM to re-define the parameters used for giving ST status.
Meanwhile, the Raje government has decided to go tough on Gujjar leader Col. Bainsla. A murder case has been registered against Bainsla in Bayana. According to reports, Gujjar dacoit Jagan Singh and some other dacoits have extended their armed support to the Gujjar agitation and have even deployed their gang in some areas.
Breaking News! The BJP, which required 113 MLAs to prove majority in the Karnataka Assembly, has just received the support of 3 independent MLAs. With this, the party's tally went up to 113 in the 224-member assembly. The independents, who have decided to extend the support to the BJP, are Shivraj, GD Shekhar and Narendra Swami.

Scientists in NASA have burst into celebrations, as the Phoenix, a spacecraft designed to taste the water on Mars, landed safely on its soil of the Red Planet. There was cheer and jubilation in the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in La Canada Flintridge, Calif, when it was confirmed that Phoenix landed on Mars. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory is managing the Mars mission.
Meanwhile, Gujjar leader Bainsala has made it clear that agitation will continue until the state government asks the Centre to include the Gujjar community in ST category. Situation in Rajasthan is very tense, as more violent protests are feared by the Gujjar community.
