Jharkhand Govt. in Crisis, as CM Shibu Soren loses by-poll
Breaking News! The Jharkhand Government has plunged into a deep crisis, as Chief Minister Shibu Soren lost the by-elections today. JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) supremo Shibu Soren lost to Jharkhand Party (JP) candidate Raja Peter by over 9,000 votes in the Tamar Assembly constituency. The Tamar seat fell vacant after JD(U) legislature party leader Ramesh Singh Munda was gunned down by suspected Maoists last year. Soren, who forced Madhu Koda to resign as Jharkhand CM and was installed as the CM with the help of RJD and Congress, is in a shock after the loss. He will have no other option, but to quit after the loss in the by-poll.
If we believe the sources, President's Rule may be imposed in Jharkhand instead of allowing the political parties to indulge in horse-trading. No single party has a majority in Jharkhand assembly, while the BJP is the single largest party in the assembly.
BJP had initially formed the government with the support of independents, but later Madhu Koda, with the support of other independents and UPA allies such as the Congress, JD(U) and JMM formed the government in the state. Madhu Koda had to resign after Soren himself wanted to become the Chief Minister after his name was cleared in a murder case.
