Ruckus in Tamil Nadu Assembly over Lawyers-Police clash, CBI Probe ordered
Chennai (24/7 News Network): The Tamil Nadu assembly witnessed a pandemonium today, as the opposition MPs from AIADMK, PMK, MDMK, CPM and CPI raised the issue of violent clash between the lawyers and police personnel at Madras High Court yesterday.Situation turned so ugly that the MLAs had to marshalled out of the assembly. The MLAs turned violent after the Assembly Speaker did not allow them to speak on the issue.
The lawyers in Tamil Nadu continued their protest against the alleged police atrocities and observed a complete shutdown today. They threatened to intensify their agitation if the guilty policemen were not punished. They termed the attack on lawyers as "pre-planned" and "motivated". The police have detained around 145 advocates so far.
DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has ordered a CBI probe into the Madras High Court incident. Mr. Karunanidhi has expressed deep concern over the issue and urged the Chief Justice of Madras High Court to take appropriate action on this matter.
