Mamata joins Advani, CPM in demanding Ballot Papers in place of EVMs

New Delhi: After Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, LK Advani and CPM leader Sitaram Yechury, Union Railway Minister joined the chorus to bring back ballot papers, replacing the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Mamata echoed Advani's statement that the EVMs can be manipulated by using certain programming codes. Earlier, Advani and Yechury had made similar demands.

A few more political parties are expected to support the demand to remove EVMs and re-introduce ballot papers. Mamata said that the EVMS are being manipulated for years and they could be easily programmed to favour a particular candidate.

while Mamata Banerjee demanded the re-introduction of ballot papers, she clarified that the Election Commission will be the final authority to decide on this.
