Commonwealth Games 2010 Budget hiked to Rs 1,620 Crore

New Delhi: Breaking News! The government has more than doubled the Commonwealth Games 2010 budget to make it successful, as India's prestige will be at stake on the global arena. The decision to hike the Delhi CWG 2010 budget was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. It will now stand at Rs 1,620 crore.

Earlier, the budget was fixed at Rs 767 crore. The Cabinet approved the proposal to hike the Commonwealth Games budget made by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The money will be given as a loan to the Organising Committee of the Commonwealth Games 2010.

The Commonwealth Games 2010 will be held in New Delhi between Oct 3 and Oct 14, 2010. It will be the 19th edition of the Commonwealth Games and will have 17 sporting disciplines.
