Over 120 People die in Storm and Mudslide in El Salvador
New Delhi: Breaking News! According to latest reports, over 120 people were killed and 60 others have gone missing, as a powerful storm hit El Salvador on Sunday. Most people were killed by floods and mudslides. Over 7,000 people have taken shelters in safer locations, said the authorities.
The flash floods and mudslides followed by heavy rains in El Salvador in the last few days. At least 60 people are reportedly missing in the San Vicente province. The storm was identified as Hurricane Ida.
The rescue and relief operations are going on full swing. The rescue workers are finding it tough to reach some of the worst-affected areas because of poor communication facilities. Several roads and bridges were also damaged by the floods and storm.
The capital city, San Salvador is worst-hit, as 61 people were reportedly killed there. 23 deaths reported from Central San Vicente province.
