Pay Rs 19 and change your Mobile Operator, retaining the Old Number

New Delhi: Breaking News! The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has fixed Rs 19 as the portability fee for the users, who want to change their mobile service providers, while keeping the numbers unchanged. The TRAI made it clear that the subscribers won't be charged more than that.

The TRAI has fixed the deadline of December 31, 2009 for the Mobile Operators to get ready with their networks for porting of numbers in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

but wht about the rest of the states?? I mean, is this service not going to be started in the states other than the mentioned ones??
