GJM to go on Indefinite Fast to press for separate Gorkhaland State
Siliguri: Breaking News! After TRS Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) won the battle for a separate Telangana state, by observing a 11-day fast-unto-death, the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) announced an indefinite hunger strike to press for a separate Gorkhaland state. GJM has been demanding a separate Gorkhaland state to be carved out of northern parts of West Bengal.
This is only the beginning, as many more regions such as Bundelkhand and Vidarbha also make similar demands, putting pressure on the Centre.
According to GJM sources, about 21 youth activists will be on indefinite hunger strike in Darjeeling, Kurseong, Kalimpong and Siliguri. The GJM has also announced a four-day shutdown in the region from December 14 to December 17.
