Swiss Minaret Ban triggers outrage in the West and Arab World

Geneva: Breaking News! The World reacted sharply to the ban on the building of new Minarets in Switzerland. Minaret is a type of tower associated with Islamic mosques. Switzerland held a referendum on Sunday in which over 57 percent people voted to ban the building of Minarets in the country, upsetting the Muslim community both in Switzerland and abroad.

The UN High Commission on Human Rights has already condemned the ban and questioned the legality of a referendum over such a sensitive issue. There is a huge outrage in the West and Arab world over the Swiss Minaret Ban.

It is alleged that Switzerland is suffering from an identity crisis and no longer remains a tolerant nation. Even Muslim clerics and leaders have urged all Muslims in the world to withdraw their money from Swiss bank accounts.

Experts think that the Switzerland government should not have allowed the referendum to be held, as it violated the Swiss Constitution and the UN treaties. It can be noted that Switzerland is a part to the European Human Rights Convention.

Making Minaret an issue, won't help Swiss in resolving the identity crisis.
