By Chinmayee Dash: Aamir Khan's mega show 'Satyamev Jayate' effectively worked and touched the human hearts of millions after its first episode on female foeticide was aired on Sunday. Â Even the show pushed Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to review the efforts are being made under the government's scheme to check the illegal practice of female foeticide. Â The superstar is now here to beat the writers, who are raising serious issues through writing. With a broad vision, Aamir launched himself on the small screen to eradicate the social diseases. Â The first episode on the problem of female foeticide in India created a kind of awareness among people those who hardly read the newspapers or get time to watch such issues on TV. The viewers went on crying when a mother was narrating her story to Aamir in the studio. Â The show also highlighted the story of a sting operation done by two journalists seven years back in Uttar Pradesh to expose increasing female foeticide cases in the states like Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Â Indian media, which is always confining itself focusing on the hard news, business, sports and entertainment, the television industry for the first time is airing the mega show with Aamir to occupy this vacuum. Â No doubt, Aamir has to be appreciated for picking up such a serious issue that has shamed India. The gender bias is an ugly side of the human psyche and Indian family traditions. Only a revolution and realisation could eliminate such issue. Â The gender difference lies in our psyche. A husband should feel the pain of his wife when she is asked for termination of pregnancy if she is bearing a girl child in her womb. A mother while going for abortion should also realise what she is going to do. This is a heinous crime and she should protest against it. Â However, Aamir's efforts to make people cry should be changed. If he wants an impact in society, he should make us angry, outraged so that people will wake up and stand against such issues. Â India needs a change and 'Satyameva Jayate' should not simply inform or educate the audiences, but it should be a revolution against such social diseases, which are haunting our country. |
