Cricket Desk: The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) thrashed the Kings XI Punjab by 8 wickets to move to the third spot in the IPL 5 points table. It was the third loss in five games for KXIP.

 

Batting first after winning the toss, Kings XI Punjab posted 124/7 in 20 overs. Gilchrist was the top scorer with 40, while Shaun Marsh scored 33. Brett Lee and Sunil Narine took two wickets each.

 

Chasing a victory target of 125, Kolkata Knight Riders were never in trouble and reached 127/2 in 16.3 overs to win the match by 8 wickets and improve their net run rate.

 

Gautam Gambhir was the top scorer with an unbeaten 66. Jacques Kallis remained not out on 30. Piyush Chawla took both wickets. Gambhir was declared 'Man of the Match'.
