Cricket Desk: Delhi Daredevils scored an emphatic 37-victory over the Mumbai Indians in an IPL 5 match in New Delhi last night. It was Delhi's sixth win in IPL 5, while Mumbai suffered their 4th loss in 8 matches.

 

With this victory, the Delhi Daredevils continue to lead the IPL 5 points table with 12 points from 8 matches. Mumbai are placed sixth. Earlier, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field first. Harbhajan's Singh's decision turned out to be wrong, as Delhi Daredevils posted 207/5 in 20 overs.

 

Virender Sehwag was the top scorer with 73 off 39 balls. He hit 8 boundaries and 3 sixes. Mahela Jayawardene made 55 off 42 balls. They added 135 runs for the first wicket.

 

Kevin Pietersen accelerated the scoring rate after Sehwag's departure. He remained not out on 50 off 26 balls with 6 boundaries and 3 sixes. Robin Peterson took three wickets, while Lasith Malinga took two wickets.

 

Chasing a victory target of 208, Mumbai Indians lost Blizzard and Tendulkar early. Rohit Sharma did not last long either. Rayudu (62 off 39 balls) and Dinesh Karthik (40) tried best, but they did not get any support from other batsmen.

 

Mumbai Indians finished at 170/ in 20 overs and lost the match by 37 runs. Irfan Pathan, Shahbaz Nadeem and Umesh Yadav took two wickets each. Virender Sehwag was declared 'Man of the Match'.
