IPL 5: Kolkata Knight Riders beat Chennai PDF Print E-mail

Cricket Desk: The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) continued with their good run in IPL 5, as they registered a thrilling victory over the Chennai Super Kings in Chennai last night.

 

The KKR are placed second in the points table with 13 points from 10 matches. Delhi Daredevils are leading the table with 14 points from 9 matches.

 

Chennai won the toss and elected to bat first. They could manage just 139/5 in 20 overs. Raina was the top scorer with 44, while Dhoni remained unbeaten on 34. Kallis took two wickets.

 

Chasing a victory target of 140, KKR rode high on Gautam Gambhir's magificent half century and reached the target in 19.4 overs by losing five wickets. The KKR batsmen held their nerves despite some anxious moments in the last three overs and won the match.

 

Gautam Gambhir scored 63, while Kallis made 26. R Ashwin and Dwayne Bravo took two wickets each. Gautam Gambhir was declared 'Man of the Match'.
