Cricket Desk: The Royal Challengers Bangalore scored a much-needed victory in the IPL 5 to stay in contention for a semifinal berth. They beat lowly-placed Deccan Chargers by 5 wickets.

AB de Villiers played a sensational innings when the stakes were down. The Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 72 runs in the last 3.5 overs to score the incredible victory. AB hit Steyn for 23 runs in the 18th over. That changed the course of the game. He remained unbeaten on 47 off 17 balls.

Earlier, Bangalore won the toss and elected to field first. Their decision backfired, as Deccan Chargers posted 181/2 in 20 overs. Shikhar Dhawan was the top scorer, as he remained not out on 73. Daniel Harris (47) and Cameron White (45) were the other contributors.

Chasing a victory target of 182, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) started well, but faltered after the departure of Chris Gayle (26) and then Tilakratne Dilshan (71).

The stakes were down for the RCB and the Deccan Chargers were cruising towards an easy victory. However, AB de Villiers changed the game. He scored an unbeaten 47 off 17 balls with 5 boundaries and 3 sixes. Mayank Agarwal scored 18 off 6 balls.

RCB reached 185/5 in 18.5 overs. Amit Mishra took two wickets. AB de Villiers was declared 'Man of the Match'. The Royal Challengers are now placed fifth in the points table with 11 points from 11 matches. The CSK also have same points from 11 matches.
