Cricket Desk: The Delhi Daredevils became the first team to reach the play-offs in the IPL 5. They beat the Kings XI Punjab by 5 wickets. Mahela Jayawardene fought the odds to take his team to victory.

The Kings XI Punjab posted 136/8 in 20 overs. David Hussey remained unbeaten on 40. Mandeep Singh scored 21. Umesh Yadav took three wickets, while Varun Aaron took two wickets.

Chasing a victory target of 137, Delhi Daredevils lost Warner, Sehwag, Venugopal and Ross Taylor early, but Mahela Jayawardene (56*) and Naman Ojha (34) played with determination and resolve to take DD to the semifinals. Delhi Daredevils reached 140/5 in 19 overs. Awana took three wickets. Umesh Yadav was declared "Man of the Match". |
