Cricket Desk: The DLF IPL got a new champion tonight, as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 5 wickets in a thrilling encounter to win the IPL 5 title in style. KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan (KKR) is a happy and relieved man!

It was KKR's maiden IPL final and they did not let that opportunity go in waste. The match went to the wire in the end, but KKR had the last laugh. Dhoni's bid for a hat-trick of IPL title could not succeed, thanks to the brave KKR team.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first. Murali Vijay and Mike Hussey added 87 in 10.2 overs, as CSK posted 190/3 in 20 overs. Vijay scored 42, while Hussey made 54. Suresh Raina struck form at the right time and scored 73 off 38 balls with 3 boundaries and 5 sixes.

Chasing a victory target of 191, KKR lost Gautam Gambhir early. However, Manvinder Bisla and Jacques Kallis added 136 runs for the second wicket. Bisla was out for 89 off 48 balls. He hit 8 boundaries and 5 sixes.

The KKR were placed in a comfortable position, when they needed 30 runs from the last three overs. There was a good contest between the bat and ball. KKR scored some good runs, while CSK got crucial wickets, including that of Kallis, who made 69 off 49 balls.

KKR needed 9 runs from the last over. Bravo bowled the over. Manoj Tiwary hit two boundaries to seal the match in KKR's favour. The Knight Riders reached 192/5 in 19.4 overs. Ben Hilfenhaus took two wickets. Manvinder Bisla was declared 'Man of the Match'. Mandeep Singh of KXIP won the Citi Rising Star Award. David Hussey got the Karbonn Kamaal Catch Award. AB de Villers won the Volkswagen Individual Performance and won a Vento.

The Orange Cap (for most number of runs - 733 runs) went to Chris Gayle of Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Purple Cap (for most number of wickets - 25 wickets) was won by Morne Morkel. Rajasthan Royals won the Fair Play Trophy. Sunil Narine won the DLF Golden Player Award.
