Breaking News! The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday granted amnesty to former World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev and welcomed him to its fold.

Kapil Dev also informed the BCCI of his resignation from the Essel Sports Private Limited, the company that owned the rebel league - Indian Cricket League (ICL). In a letter, he stated that he has always supported the BCCI, and will continue to do so in the future.

BCCI President N Srinivasan confirmed that the board has received a letter from Kapil Dev of his resignation from the Essel Sports Private Limited / ICL.

He said that the Cricket board acknowledges Kapil Dev's immense contribution to Indian cricket and looks forward to a fruitful association with him in the years to come.

It is noted that Kapil had applied for amnesty following the discussions with the BCCI president. He had joined the Indian Cricket League in 2007 as the chairman of the executive board.

However, he was attending some of the functions organised by the BCCI. Once he becomes a part of the BCCI, he will start receiving pension, one time benefit scheme of the board and his arrears will be cleared.
