India beat Sri Lanka in T20, end Tour on a High PDF Print E-mail

Breaking News! Even as the Hockey Team disappointed at the London Olympics, the cricket team continued with their good show in Sri Lanka, as they won the one-off T20 encounter by 39 runs. India had won the ODI series 4-1.

 

Irfan Pathan and Ashok Dinda rattled the Sri Lankan batting order after their bowlers put up a decent total on board. Virat Kohli yet again proved his mettle in batting.

 

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first. India posted 155/3 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli made 68 - highest scorer in any India-Sri Lanka Twenty20 match. Rahane and Raina contributed 21 and 34* respectively. Eranga took two wickets.

 

Chasing a victory target of 156, Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals and bowled out for 116 in 18 overs. Jayawardene (26), Thirimanne (20) and Mathews (31) were the top contributors. Pathan took three wickets, while Dinda took four wickets. India moved up to 4th spot in the ICC T20 rankings with this win. Irfan Pathan was declared 'Man of the Match'.
