Breaking News! India's star cricketer VVS Laxman has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect. Laxman has played 134 Test matches and scored 8,781 runs. Laxman won't play in the upcoming New Zealand series. Laxman became the second senior player after Rahul Dravid to retire from Test cricket.

VVS Laxman has scored 8,781 runs in 134 tests with 17 hundreds and 56 fifties with an average of 45.97. His highest score remains 281 against Australia in Kolkata in 2001. He also played 86 ODIs and scored 2,338 runs with 6 hundreds and 10 fifties.

"I have heard my inner voice and decided to bid adieu to international cricket with immediate effect. I informed the selectors about my decision today. I always felt proud to wear the India cap," said an emotional VVS Laxman. Laxman reportedly rejected the BCCI's offer for a farewell series and decided not to play against New Zealand.
