Nagpur: South Africa dashed India's hopes to be the No. 1 test team in the world, as it won the Nagpur test by an innings and six runs to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match test series. It was one of the humiliating defeats for Team India in the last 25 years. South Africa became the No. 1 test team in the world, pushing India to No. 2 position.

This is the first-ever defeat for skipper Ms Dhoni under his captaincy. Ironically, the Indian bowlers could not even take more than six South African wickets in this test, while they lost 20 wickets in less than four days. Dhoni admitted that it was a collective failure and the entire team is to be blamed for this humiliating defeat.

South Africa enforced follow-on after India bowled out for 233 in the first innings, in reply to South Africa's 558/6 dec. In the second innings, India bowled out for 319. Tendulkar was the top scorer with 100, while Harbhajan made 39. Wriddhiman Saha and Zaheer Khan contributed 36 and 33 respectively.

For South Africa, Dale Steyn and Paul Harris took 3 wickets each. Wayne Parnell took 2 wickets. Steyn had taken 7 wickets in the first innings - 10 wickets in the match. Hashim Amla, who scored a double century in this test match, was declared "Man of the Match". With this victory, South Africa has now become the unofficial No. 1 test team in the world and they are all set to retain their top spot this season.

Scores:

South Africa - 558/6 dec

India - 233 & 319
