Editor's Desk: While making a hue and cry over the porngate in Karnataka, the Congress should not forget former Andhra Pradesh Governor ND Tiwari, who was involved in a sex scandal inside the Raj Bhavan a couple of years ago. Â
The Congress cannot lecture the BJP on porn and sex after the Bhanwari Devi episode in Rajasthan. A Minister was involved in the sleaze CD for which Bhanwari Devi had to pay with her life.  In Karnataka, when the Ministers were caught watching porn video on mobile inside the Assembly, the BJP asked them to resign with immediate effect. The Ministers resigned in less than 24 hours.  There is a national outrage over the porngate in Karnataka, which cannot be condoned under any circumstances. In all probability, the Assembly Speaker would disqualify them as MLAs, which is fair enough. After this scandal, they don't deserve to remain the MLAs.  This is no secret that many politicians in India are indulged in such activities, including sex, porn, drugs etc. This is nothing to do with any party ideology. Politicians keep switching parties whenever they see profit. So, we cannot target the ideologies of a party for the misdeeds of leaders.  The Congress will definitely fish in the troubled waters. But the party will find it again at the receiving end when its own leaders/cadres will get involved in future, which cannot be ruled out.  The BJP, which always talks about moral high ground, should introspect more after this incident. The party should know that it cannot take the people of this country for granted. The party should expel the MLAs from the party if they are found guilty by the House Committee formed by the Assembly Speaker. The Karnataka Porngate should serve as a wake-up call for all political parties and leaders. |
