Editor's Desk: While the BJP ruled out supporting either the Samajwadi Party or the BSP in Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati is reportedly inching closer to the Congress in a desperate bid to keep SP out of power.

All exit polls have predicted maximum seats for the Samajwadi Party. However, all of them agreed that there could be a hung assembly in the state. The poll pundits think that BSP will emerge as the second largest party.

The BJP, which may finish third with 60-80 seats, has already ruled out post-poll alliance with any party. The Samajwadi Party is confident of forming the government on its own.

However, the Congress, which did not gain despite Rahul Gandhi's hard work in Uttar Pradesh, has reportedly sent the feelers to the BSP. Congress leader and Union Minister Beni Prasad Verma had yesterday hinted that he would vouch hard for a Congress-BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh.

BSP supremo Mayawati is all set to lose power in Uttar Pradesh. She also fears witch-hunting by the new government and CBI backlash in the NRHM scam. She has little option but to go with the Congress.

Once the results are out tomorrow, the picture will be clear in Uttar Pradesh. Many twists and turns are expected in the state over the next couple of days.
