Entertainment Desk: ‘Pyaar Ki Pungi’ - the popular number from the upcoming Bollywood movie ‘Agent Vinod’ has landed in copyright tangles before its release.  An Iranian band has claimed copyright over the song and served legal notice to the producers and music director of the film.

Bollywood Music Director Pritam Chakraborty, who is more or less ill reputed for stealing compositions from hit songs of abroad, has this time caught red-handed.

Barobax Corporation, an Iranian music band has served legal notice to Pritam, Eros International Media, Illuminati Films Private Ltd and Super Cassettes Ltd for copyright infringement.

The music band has claimed that the prelude (first stanza) of the song ‘Pyaar Ki Pungi’ has been completely copied from one of their composed songs.

According to the legal notice issued by law firm Vidhii Partners, the band had produced and released an album titled 'Soosan Khanoom' on January 16, 2010 which was a super duper hit. Barobax Corporation is the copyright holder of this song which is registered under the Copyright Act in Canada on June 30 2010.

Hence according to law they are the legal owner of the work/song and no one is entitled to use the same in any form (part or full) without their prior permission.

After music release of ‘Agent Vinod’, the film’s most popular number ‘Pyaar Ki Pungi’ was aired on satellite television worldwide.

After watching the video of the song, the Iranian band people, named Kashayar Haghgoo, Kevian Haghgoo and Hamid Farouzmand found that the first part of the song has been copied from their ‘'Soosan Khanoom' song without any change.

"We demand the music director, producers and directors to refrain from releasing the song in the movie or use it to promote the movie. Failing to do so, the band shall be compelled to initiate proceedings to seek a restraining order and necessary compensation," the notice states.

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer ‘Agent Vinod’ is scheduled to be released on 23rd March.
