By Himanshu Guru: ‘3’ which had created a big buzz with hit song 'Kolaveri Di' has failed to impress the audience and turned out to be a big flop dealing a blow to debutant director Aishwarya.  Perhaps the audience had a high expectation from the film, thanks to the Kolaveri song. But Dhanush's film could not create any magic.  Although a good film earns success at the box office the vice versa is not always true. Like there are many films which can be claimed as unique or classic films but failed at box office.  For ‘3’, may it be a failure at the box office, but certain parts of the film have indeed attracted the audience.  Performance of both Dhanush and Shruti Haasan has been appreciated. Especially Dhanush’s acting in the role of a high school student has gained attention of at least a section of the audience.  Secondly, the innocent teenage love story has not been rejected completely. Only the thing is that, we have lots of other films with synonymous story idea for which the script could not play well.  Music of Anirudh Manichander has been praised along with the ‘Kolaveri Di’ song. Many people have suggested that the second part of the film was boring and slow, advocating that first half was good and entertaining.  About the director people’s opinion is that as a newcomer whatever Aishwarya has tried is commendable. But unfortunately the audience has nothing to do with whether the director is old or new. Audience wants entertainment, entertainment and entertainment.  Aishwarya has exhibited her talent by making a film with a different and serious subject in her first ever attempt, but has missed to do justice to all the scenes; some scenes such as ‘chase’, ‘bike ride’, ‘tuition’ are powerful.  ‘3’ failed at the box office, but if we talk about acting, everyone tried their best to give their best performance. |
