News Desk: ‘Tezz’ could be told slightly ‘Tezz’. I mean with a less span of time even the same story could be told but it was slightly loose. But surely several scenes of the film are commendable and individual performances of the actors are no doubt superb.

Priyadarshan, the Director of ‘Tezz’ has unchallengeable command over comedy films. It will not be wrong to say that in the first decade of the twenty-first century any comedy genre Bollywood film you take, the director is Priyadarshan.

May it be Hera Pheri, Hungama, Hulchul, Malamal Weekly, Bhagam bhag, Chupke chupke, Dhol, Billu, De Danadan, Khatta Mitha or comedy based horror like Bhul Bhulaya, the directorial signature you find will be Priyadarshan.

But ‘Tezz’ is not at all a comedy movie. For the first time Priyadarshan has made a thriller. Before the release of the film the ‘Tezz’ unit was comparing the film with Hollywood blockbusters.

And, taking Priyadarshan’s super filming ability into consideration, the audience was also expecting an outstanding film. But although the film has tried its best Hollywood action thrillers are above it.

Now coming to the plot, the script is although not an innovative one, there is ample scope for putting a lot of action shots and 'masala'. So, on that point of view the script is good.

Engineer Aakash Rana (Ajay Devgn), is staying with his wife Nikita (Kangana Ranaut), a U.K. citizen in London. However, his illegal immigration status gets revealed and the courts order him to deport. This strict action ruins his dreams of a homely life.

Hence when after four years Rana returns to U.K. he teams up with his former employees Adil Khan (Zayed Khan) and Megha (Sameera Reddy) to take revenge.

On the other hand, there is an acute problem.

A bomb was reported to be implanted on a train and the Railway Control officer Sanjay Raina (Boman Irani) and Anti-Terrorism officer Arjun Khanna (Anil Kapoor) are trying their best to squash the bomb threat and to catch the culprits.

Inside the train police officer Shivan Nair (Mohanlal) and his team of cops are escorting a prisoner on the same train.

In this way the script has provided ample opportunities to perform stunts, action scenes and shots where the latest filming techniques can be used.

Coming to the performances, we are proud to say that all the lead actors have performed their best. Ajay Devgn is superb in shots with emotion and action. In fact his eyes alone complete a major task of acting.

Father of Sonam Kapoor, Mr. Anil Kapoor has proved that on the screen he is still a youngster, although in real life he is father of a Bollywood heroine. Boman Irani is excellent as always.

Mohanlal is although very good at acting but it was felt that perhaps his physique was a square peg to a round hole to the character.

We are not certain whether the Bollywood trend of putting around 8 songs in a film in different situations is faulty or it is the director’s flaw, but the songs interrupt in the middle of the excitement.

In ‘Tezz’, a scene where Rana and Khan are being chased by cops suddenly gets hacked to make way for item number ‘Laila’. Apart from that, Sajid Wajid’s compositions and music is very good.

Also the use of flashbacks is not quiet advisable in a thriller, which can be felt from this film. And some queries have not been answered, like why his former adds support the engineer. But it is not a big issue.

Thiru’s cinematography is excellent. ‘Tezz’ has received mix reviews from the biggies. At the box office also it is struggling. But still we can ascertain it is a nice film. Our rating for ‘Tezz’ is 3 and half stars out of 5.
