Entertainment Desk: JANNAT 2 is an unsuccessful attempt to make a film like Andrew Niccol’s ‘Lord of the war’, made in 2005 in Hollywood starring Nicolas Cage. The movie, which is a sequel of Jannat (2008), is all about an arms dealer who ultimately confronts the morality of his work.

Plot of ‘Jannat 2’, the crime drama revolves around the character of a small-time crook Sonu Dilli (Emraan Hashmi ) trying to reform himself when he falls in love. The script has nothing new to reveal and so is a predictable one. Still the director Kunal Deshmukh could have performed better. But the presentation is lacking somewhere.

In the film, two tales, a love story and a crime episode run simultaneously. However, the balance between the two has been missed. The use of crude dialogues is accepted because it is common for the criminal characters.

A couple of chase sequences, particularly one through the arteries of a 'Dargah', are awesome shot, but still it is too long.

The climax is touching but till then it becomes too late for the audience who had kept their patience for some long hours.

The music by Pritam is memorable and is the backbone of the film.

Performance of Imran Hashmi and Randip Hooda, the two lead male actors are brilliant. It is better not to discuss about the character Jhanvi Tomar. I mean Esha Gupta has not acted in a way to be remembered. Adding to that the chemistry between Emraan and Esha is a dull .

Delhi has been used as a backdrop for the crime of arms trafficking and the director has tried to make a ‘Masaledaar’ film. Specially the first half is slightly boring.

But at the top of all it is a pure Imran Hashmi film. I mean for the fans of Imran it is a excellent film to be watched at the theatre. The actor has tried his best to shoulder Jannat 2, but due to poor script his effort has turned futile.
