Entertainment Desk: ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’ is the story of an honest man turning to dishonest means for an ostensibly noble purpose. The film may not be a blockbuster but definitely an entertaining film with agreeable characters.
Story of the film revolves around three characters - Rusy (Sharman Joshi), his son Kayo (Ritvik Sahore) and his father Deboo (Boman Irani). The film is all about the dream of a young boy and his father, cricket and a Ferrari car.
Rusy is the head clerk at the regional transport office in Mumbai who stays in a Parsi colony with his school going son Kayo and his irritable father Deboo. He practices complete honesty and teaches his son to emulate him. Even once accidentally he crosses a red light with his son behind him on their old two- wheeler and goes searching for a traffic policeman to pay him the fine for his mistake.
Kayo is a promising young cricketer who wants to be a great cricketer, but thanks to his father’s little income he is deprived of all the latest adding stuffs of cricket.
In the mean time a camp in Lords, London is announced at Kayo’s school and the ambitious father decides not to miss out the chance and tries his best to arrange the bulky fee of Rs. 1.5 lakh in spite of his middle class woes.
Deboo, the annoying father of Rusy, who is strongly against his grandson’s cricket, warns the young duo, but finally fortune knocks at their door.
Rusy gets a chance to make one-and-a-half lakh rupees by arranging a Ferrari car for a couple of hours for the marriage occasion of a Mumbai politician’s son. Incidentally the only such Ferrari available in the country belongs to Mrs. Tendulkar which finally was somehow brought and this is all about Ferrari Ki sawari.
Coming to acting, all the three major characters have played fabulously. Boman Irani as Deboo/Motey Pappa is as always perfect. The actor’s quality of piercing into the skin of a character has been seen throughout the film which is highly commendable. Sharman Joshi has appeared as a solo hero for the first time in this film but has left no stone unturned to shoulder the movie. And finally, the young boy Ritvik Sahore has done an outstanding job.
Last but not least Vidya Balan was superb in the item number. Among the negative points the first one is the film is a bit longer which makes it boring at certain times. Also the Marathi leader episode was not that much required. Rest ‘all is well’.
Director – Rajesh Mapuskar
