News Desk: The Living Legend Big B recalls his golden time with the first Superstar of India, Rajesh Khanna. Yesterday when Sr Bachchan rushed to ‘Ashirwad’ bungalow to pay his respect Khanna soon after he took his last breath, a close functionary of Khanna, told him what the last words of the superstar were.

Bachchan remembers, that person told him in a choked voice what Khanna’s last words were -“Time ho Gaya hai! Pack Up!”

‘Anand’ was the first film acted by both of these legends.  In his blog Amitabh Bachchan has described about his sweet and emotional memories with THE Rajesh Khanna. Bachchan ji himself mentioned the first superstar as ‘THE Rajesh Khanna’ as a token of respect and to claim that how great Khanna was.

"He was simple and quiet. He would attract many visitors on set and was continuously surrounded by them - Hrishi da permitting! The frenzy and the following he garnered was a sight to behold. In the 1970 era his fans came from Spain to meet him, a most unheard of occurrence then. In his trade mark Rajesh Khanna kurta pyjama, he almost always looked the boy next door, one that girls would want to take home to Mother," Bachchan said.
After ‘Anand’ Bachchan had also worked with Rajesh Khanna, the legendary actor in ‘Namak Haram’ during his initial years in Bollywood. Big B has mentioned that “the opportunity to share screen space with the legend was like a god's own blessing to him”.

“I first saw him in a film magazine, perhaps Filmfare. He was the winner of the Filmfare-Madhuri Talent Contest, a contest that I had applied to in the coming year and been rejected. His film ‘Aradhana’ was my next meeting with him, at the Rivoli Theatre in Connaught Place in New Delhi, which my Mother took me along to see. The packed audience and their reactions to this young handsome man was impermeable”. – writes Amitabh Bachchan about his introduction with Rajesh ji.

Bachchan sir has described about his feeling that when he watched Rajesh ji on screen in ‘Aradhana’, he got discouraged that there is little chance for him in the Hindi Film Industry where Legends like Rajesh Khanna reigns, with lots of fans always around him for his stardom. Bachchan ji writes ‘one look at Rajesh Khanna made me realize that with people like him around, there would be little chance or opportunity for me, in this new profession”!

Amitabh Bachchan had visited Rajesh Khanna’s Bungalow only once during birthday of Khanna to wish him. And that is also to realize that he had reached a day earlier.

The last time Bachchan had met Rajesh Ji was on the set of IIFA Awards in 2005 when he was asked to honor Rajesh Khanna with the trophy for his life time achievements in Indian Films.

Amitabh Bachchan is actor of the century. The most precious nature with him, even beyond acting, is his ‘humility’, perhaps for that he is reining the Hindi Film Industry since last four decades.

The humble words of Amitabh ji for the great Rajesh Khanna will be remembered for ever.
