Lendl Simmons scored the first hundred of IPL 7, as Mumbai Indians defeated Kings XI Punjab by seven wickets. This win brought Mumbai to fifth spot although they are tied with Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad at 10 points each. Earlier, Glenn Maxwell missed a hundred four times by scoring 95, 95, 89 and 94.
Punjab scored 156/8 in 20 overs. Manan Vohra (36), Shaun Marsh (30) and George Bailey (39) were the top scorers. Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Gopal took two wickets each.
Mumbai lost Michael Hussey and Ambati Rayudu early. However, Simmons held the fort at one end. He remained unbeaten on 100 off 61 balls with 14 boundaries and 2 sixes. Mumbai reached 159/3 in 19 overs. He was declared 'Man of the Match'.
