News Desk: Congress party president Sonia Gandhi figures as the seventh most powerful woman of the world in the Forbes list. The list is topped by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

 

Sonia Gandhi, 64, has made every Indian proud by securing an unbeaten 7th position in the Forbes magazine’s list of 100 most powerful women of the world. Her position is just ahead of US First Lady Michelle Obama.

 

It is reported that Forbes has admired for Sonia Gandhi’s efforts in the economic growth of India. Forbes have described Sonia Gandhi as an avid scholar of the arts and mentioned about her degree in oil painting conservation in an interview.

 

Though she was also criticized for her tolerance of political corruption and inability to connect with Indian youngsters, Forbes showed great concerns for her recent surgery in US.

 

Besides Sonia Gandhi, Indian-American Indra Nooyi, the head of soft drink giant PepsiCo, has been ranked fourth in the most awaited list of Forbes.

 

Two other Indians, Chanda Kochhar, the CEO of ICICI Bank was placed 43rd and Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw,  the Biocon founder chair, was placed at 99th in the Forbes list.
