News Desk: Technological revolution has been the most visible, vibrant, progressive and exciting face of human evolution in this decade. Everyday new applications, new software, new equipments are launched that catch human eye and subtly influence human behavior thus transforming communication.

When Internet came of age in India, in the fight between dial up connection vs broadband, dial up has become moribund. Broadband connectivity in India has jump started the economy and added value in all spheres of life. The internet has become the focal point for social, professional an economic life.

Internet which was at one time essentially used for communication is now used for shopping, games, social networking, education and a host of other interactive applications, which keep people anchored to their laptops and PCs.

India is slowly catching up with the world: wireless technology-alias WiMAX. An economic surge will be felt if wireless is made affordable, as people will make purchases, like wireless printers and scanners, routers, speakers, keyboards for pc's, wireless monitors etc to compliment.

But for this technology to be effective, we need public and private sectors that encourage innovative and imaginative use of technologies. They also have to be safe, secure and provide privacy safeguard to its users, which is a challenge.

The advantage India has over other countries is that broadband connectivity has not yet reached the nook and corner of Indian villages because of the difficulty in laying out the broadband wires-Wi-MAX technology negates this problem. Broadband requires a land line connection, Wi-MAX does not.

With wireless technology ready to sweep India, there is a buzz of excitement among users, and vendors alike. If like the mobile phones, it is made cheaper and accessible we are looking at the next big bang in business revolution. Today, a basic mobile instrument costs 1000 rupees, and with web access it costs more than 10,000 rupees.

This is a huge disparity which can be overcome only if equipment costs; connectivity costs are made cheaper, thereby making it affordable.

Consumers having fast and easy access to almost everything, from anywhere, will see a spur of new innovative technology to provide, health care, e-learning, communications, security, shopping, which can be provided to everyone at affordable cost.

New applications will flood the market, providing maximum comfort to its users. The government and private industries seem to understand the need for providing inexpensive, high quality connectivity to Indian masses.

With industry players and the government assuring Wi-MAX connectivity at competitive rates, this is an exciting time. We are standing on a precipice of a whole new world waiting to open and usher in an exciting tech-life.
