News Desk: Apple has been ruling the smartphone market with its iPad in the Tablet PCs. After a gap of almost seven months, Samsung has dared to challenge the iPad with the launch of Galaxy tab tablet PCs. Â
Display:  iPad offers a 768 x 1024 pixels spread over 9.7 inch wide LED-screen, turning it into a glossy high-resolution phone. On the other side, Galaxy Tab compromises with just a 7.0 inch TFT display 1024 x 600 pixels resolution. iPad is surely a winner with additional Multi-Touch display with IPS technology. (Winner: iPad)  Size and Weight:  iPad is bigger in dimensions (242.8 x 189.7 x 13.4mm) while Galaxy Tab is just 190.09x 120.45 x 11.98mm. But in terms of weight, though iPad weighs 680g compared toGalaxy which is 380g, it feels lighter when you hold it. (Winner: Draw)  Operating System:  iPad relies on iOS 4.0 and soon will be updated with iOS 4.2 supporting multi-tasking. Galaxy Tab runs on the best Operating System in the market ‘Android OS’, which adds the power of third-party applications and scope for added functionalities. (Winner: Galaxy Tab)  Performance:  iPad has 1GHz of Apple’s own A4 processor and offers 256 MB of RAM. Galaxy Tab has got ARM-Cortex ‘Hummingbird’ 1GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM and is able to give a tie to iPad. (Winner: Tie)  Camera:  Galaxy Tab has a 3.1 megapixel main camera on its rear side and a 1.3 megapixel camera in front (for video-calling purpose). iPad does not offer a camera at all but is likely to include one in its next release. (Winner: Undoubtedly Galaxy Tab)  Memory Features:  iPads are available in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB in-built memory models. While Galaxy Tab comes only in 16 GB and 32 GB models, but also offers an expandable 32GB expandable memory Micro-SD slot. So, both goes for a tie here too.  Battery:  iPad claims a 10-hours battery back-up against Web-surfing, Media-playing and Wi-Fi consumption. Galaxy Tab drains out within 7-hours of usage as is obvious from its smaller size to adjust a more efficient battery. (Winner: Obviously iPad )  Pricing:  Galaxy Tab is available at a price of Rs 35,000 while iPad is available in the Grey market at a price range between Rs 35,000 to Rs 50,000. |
