News Desk: Surrogacy is not unknown to medical science. However, it is too costly and complicated in the Unites States. According to media reports, Indian women are paid to bear babies for the western couples.

A 28-year-old woman was ready to rent her womb to a single parent from the US. Prabha was living under poverty line and her life changed after the surrogacy. Her husband was an auto rickshaw driver and the family was burdened with a loan of 1.5 lakh.

When Prabha came to know about the procedure of surrogacy from her friend and she thought that the way will solve her family problem soon. She underwent a series of tests and counseling sessions for surrogacy. Later, she was a surrogate mother for Charles, a single parent from Kentuck. She delivered a healthy baby and handed it over to him.

She was paid Rs 2 lakh that helped her repay the loan. She is one of the nine surrogate mothers at Dr Ramesh Hospital in Bangalore recently.

The case of surrogate mothers is increasing in India as most of the women are living under poverty line and women in western countries are not able to conceive babies.

Indian women are being paid a huge amount for surrogacy and poor women are ready to rent their wombs to the parents from foreign countries. There are two types of surrogacy: one is a complete surrogacy in which both egg and sperm come from biological parents or donors and the embryo is implanted in the womb of the surrogate mother; another one is partial surrogacy in which the surrogate mother donates the egg.

India witnesses Bangalore as a centre of surrogacy where many women agree to be surrogate mothers for the sake of money. Now the country is playing a key role to make babies for the US by the help of surrogacy.
