News Desk: A team of British scientists have claimed that they have developed a gel to boost up male fertility. The "miraculous" gel will be coming soon.

The scientist team at the University of Birmingham avers that the gel can increase the swimming ability of sperm cells and this can help boost the number of cells capable of reaching a woman's egg.

It is surprising to note that only one third of all fertility problems suffered by couples are due to women.  The bigger probability lies with either the male partner or an unknown cause. But Male fertility has been largely ignored and women are blamed for failure in fertility. In fact, they are made to take medication or undergo invasive procedures to conceive.

The mechanism of fertility treatment is that – basically it involve helping sperm to reach the egg of the female. So, if this finding works out properly the process will be much cheaper as compared to treatments like IVF.

Describing their development, the scientists ensure that they have some compounds that are in the early stages of testing, which can make more sperm will swim through cervical mucus, which would send more sperm into the uterus which should increase natural fertility.

In the study the team found that the cells travel in a precise way where they flip their tails in a whip-like motion which is thought to be operated by spikes and dips in the levels of calcium inside the cells.

The study was carried out for studying about - what influences the motility or movement of sperm cells. It was lead by Dr Jackson Kirkman-Brown.
