News Desk: Every young man of the new generation dreams of a six-pack abs like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone of Hollywood. If you are from the same community and a gym-prone person here is a useful tip for you.

A new study has suggested that light weights help in better to build muscle. The researchers at the McMaster University in Canada felt (after the study) that light weights are more effective than heavy weights when it comes to building muscle.

During the study, the researchers found that carrying out more repetitions of light weights could build muscle mass just as effectively as lower reps of heavy weights.

Nicholas Burd, lead author of the study said: "Other resistance protocols, beyond the often discussed high-intensity training, can be effective in stimulating a muscle building response that may translate into bigger muscles after resistance training."

The study provides that the lower intensity workout could be better at building muscles because the higher repetitions "sustained the muscle building response for days".

The findings of the study were published in the 'Applied Physiology, Nutrition and Metabolism' journal.
