Mysterious Disease kills 73 Kids in Bihar PDF Print E-mail

News Desk: An unidentified mysterious disease with symptoms similar to encephalitis has claimed the lives of at least 73 children in Bihar in 15 days. State health department officials are yet to determine the cause of their deaths.


Most of the deaths were reported from Bihar’s Muzaffarpur (30), Gaya (9) and Patna (34) districts in last 15 days.


A total of 80 children suffering from acute encephalitis syndrome were admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) of which 34 died. Dr. Sujata Choudhary, head of the department of paediatric in the PMCH said that the children were showing the symptoms similar to encephalitis.
