Breaking News! In a significant development, the Union Home Ministry opposed the "gay sex" in India, saying it is highly "immoral" and against the "social order". The government opposed the decriminalisation of gay sex before the Supreme Court. Â Additional Solicitor General (ASG) PP Malhotra told the apex court that the Indian society is different from other countries and prevailing rules in other countries cannot be practiced in this country. Â "Gay sex is highly immoral and against social order and there is high chance of spreading of diseases through such acts," he said. He further argued that Indian society disapproves of homosexuality and law cannot be separated from the society. Â The Delhi High Court had decriminalised gay sex in 2009 and excluded it from Section 377 (unnatural offences) of the IPC that makes gay sex a criminal offence entailing a maximum punishment of life imprisonment. |
